THE VENUE

The main venue we use is at Patetonga which is on Highway 27 south of Maramarua. The race track is a purpose built speedway track, slightly banked using terracotta clay as a surface and very wide in the corners to allow plenty of run off area.

This track is located on private farm land consists of shaded covered area, a grandstand and also has a flush toilet on site.

At various times Drive A Sprintcar driving experience will run at tracks in the New Plymouth and Palmerston North areas.

What is a Sprintcar?

Sprint cars are high-powered race cars designed primarily for the purpose of running on short oval or circular dirt or paved tracks.

The added wings increased the downforce generated on the car, with the opposite direction of the sideboards helping to turn the car in the corners. This makes the car easier to control.
